I added a clip where I got really close, and I was so sure of myself that was going to be the attempt where I broke one thousand, but that obviously didn't happen. I was saying some nasty things when I screwed up that late haha.
This is an optional mini game you can play in this game. The only real advantages to it are if you get more than 50 jumps at the beginning of the game, you get to see a letter from Mognet Central about the game. You also get a few good cards from this mini game.
There are two times you can play this game. The first is when you have control of Vivi in Alexandria at the beginning of the game. You can find the girls jumping rope to the left of the ticket booth. The second is after Alexandria is destroyed on the third disc. You can find the girls jumping rope in the steeple from this point, and they will be there for the rest of the game. If you play it when they are located in the steeple, you must have either Vivi or Eiko in your party for the girls to allow you to play the game.
Here are some tips I came up with for you to reach 1,000 jumps. I like to count in my head: "1, 2, 3, 4, 1, 2, 3, 4..." I do this count for all of the jumps except for 200-300 because those are special. You don't have to count 4's, but I would recommend doing something for some kind of rhythm in your jumps. It shouldn't take you too long to reach 100 jumps; just practice for awhile, and you will make it. When you reach 100, you can actually start screwing up. The only tip I can give is to keep practicing, and you will eventually have muscle memory for the tempo and reach 200. When you reach 200, the stupid girls decide to change up the rhythm of your jumps. Instead of a constant pace, they do kind of like a 1, 2... 1, 2... 1, 2 etc type of rhythm. This took me a really long time to master, and you should expect to screw up here a lot. I recommend you pay attention to your counter, and brace yourself when you get to 200. If you finally reach 300 jumps, then give yourself a pat on the back because it is definitely not easy. The hardest part after you reach 300 is transitioning from doing that odd "doubles" rhythm to doing a constant rhythm again. The speed from 300 on is the same, and it is faster than it was for 100-200. If you can adjust yourself from 299-300, then you are home free. The problem is you have to do 700 more jumps to receive the last reward. That will take around 4-5 minutes, and it is hard to focus for that long. My eyes started to hurt trying to stare at the screen for that long, and I ended up blinking way too much. Things get crazy when you reach around 800, but just focus on what you are doing, and you will make it.
The rewards for the jump rope game are as follows:
20 jumps: 10 gil
50 jumps: Cactuar card
100 jumps: Genji card
200 jumps: Alexandria card
300 jumps: Tiger Racket card
1000 jumps: King of Jump Rope
Please note that the King of Jump Rope is a Key Item that does absolutely nothing. It is really just for completion sake, or proving you accomplished something I guess. Follow me on Twitch! https://www.twitch.tv/thabeast721
