Deputy Suzanne Hopper Tribute

 

On January 1st, 2011 - Clark County Sheriff's Deputy Suzanne Michelle (Waughtel) Hopper was dispatched to the Enon Beach campgrounds in Enon, OH to investigate a report of a shot being fired into the camper while the residents inside were asleep... Upon arriving at the scene - Suzanne began her investigation by interviewing the people who reported the incident... Within a few minutes - her supervisor - Sergeant Dustin White - arrived and began to talk with the people inside the camper - while Suzanne went outside and began taking pictures of the area... Suzanne had no idea that the man who fired the shots into the camper - was still in the area - and was lying in wait for her... As Suzanne began to take a photograph of a footprint - the gunman - Michael Ferryman - flung opened his camper door just feet from Deputy Hopper - and shot her without warning or provocation.... The shotgun blast to Deputy Hopper was fatal...
