KD Tun Razak tiba di Teluk Sepanggar

KOTA KINABALU: Kapal selam kedua negara KD Tun Razak selamat tiba di pangkalan Tentera Laut Diraja Malaysia (TLDM) di Teluk Sepanggar, dekat sini hari ini.
Ketibaan KD Tun Razak disambut Yang Dipertua Negeri Tun Ahmadshah Abdullah, Panglima Tentera Laut Laksamana Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar dan warga TLDM.
KD Tun Razak yang dikendalikan 32 anggota tentera laut yang telah mengikuti latihan kapal selam di Perancis selama empat tahun memulakan pelayaran pulang dari Toulon, Perancis pada 30 April lepas dan mengharungi 7,063 batu nautika sebelum sampai ke tanah air.
Kapal selam kedua itu dilengkapi sistem pelancar torpedo, misil dan periuk api serta mampu mengawasi perairan negara pada kedalaman 100 hingga 200 meter.
Berucap pada majlis sambutan itu, Ahmadshah berkata kehadiran KD Tun Razak mampu meningkatkan keupayaan TLDM melaksanakan tanggungjawabnya menjaga keselamatan dan kesejahteraan perairan negara.
Bagi menjamin kedaulatan perairan negara yang luas, TLDM memerlukan lebih banyak aset yang efisien dan canggih, dan kapal selam adalah aset strategik tercanggih dikendalikan TLDM masa kini, katanya.
Selain KD Tun Razak, beliau berkata pangkalan TLDM Kota Kinabalu di Sepanggar turut menempatkan kapal selam pertama negara, KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, sejak September tahun lalu. - BERNAMA

KOTA KINABALU: The country's second Scorpene submarine, the KD Tun Razak, completed its journey when it arrived at the Sepanggar naval base in Sepanggar here yesterday.

The arrival of the submarine also created history for the Royal Malaysian Navy (RMN) for having two submarines, which would be based at the Sepanggar naval base following the arrival of the first Scorpene submarine, the KD Tunku Abdul Rahman, on September 17 last year.
The arrival of KD Tun Razak was welcome by Head of State Tun Haji Ahmadshah Abdullah and RMN chief Admiral Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Jaafar.
Also present were submarine commanding officer First Admiral Mohd Roslan Omar, Sabah Navy Regional Two commander First Admiral Anuwi Hassan and brigade commander Brigadier General Ali.
KD Tun Razak, which is guided by 32 crewmen, started its journey home from Toulon, France on April 30 before arriving at Lumut on July 2.
After travelling 64 days with speed at 7,063 nautical miles to reach Lumut, KD Tun Razak took another eight more days to reach the Sepanggar naval base.
"The arrival of KD Tun Razak marked another history for the development of the Royal Malaysian Navy.
"Together with KD Tungku Abdul Rahman, the arrival of KD Tun Razak today (yesterday) completed the country's submarine armed force that all Malaysians have been dreaming of," he said.
Meanwhile, Luis Gunsong from Kiulu, Tuaran, said the arrival of KD Tun Razak to the Sepanggar naval base brought a beautiful meaning to his life as this was the first time he carried and held his six-month-old daughter in his arms.
"I am so happy and touched right now as not only had we completed our mission, but today is the first time I saw and held my daughter who was born in January," said the 36-year-old proud father.
"Besides, I am also happy to be home with my wife, Jenny Liu, 34, my parents and family after being away for almost five years in France," he said.
