This is a WeatherSTAR 4000 emulator video I recorded to show weather conditions from Ronald Reagan National Airport in Washington, DC on April 18, 2008 at 3:35 PM Eastern Daylight Time.
Across much of the Interstate 95 corridor from Richmond, Virginia through Washington, Baltimore, Philadelphia, New York City and Hartford, temperatures on this day were unseasonably warm for mid-April. Peak readings were expected to reach the low to mid 80s in our nation's capital and around 80° in both Philadelphia and New York City. It was also very dry across much of northern Virginia and southern Maryland under a strong dome of high pressure sitting just off the coast. While there were no watches or warnings issued by the National Weather Service at the time, humidity levels in many locations were below 20%, almost desert-like conditions.
Plenty of sunshine during the afternoon and clear skies in the evening paved the way toward a nice Saturday as high temperatures were expected to reach 80° again, but would cool off by Sunday with showers in the forecast through Monday night and temperatures to top out in the low 60s.
