This is a recording of a classroom discussion on the topic of Comprehension for UPSC Prelims GS Paper 2 or CSAT. Comprehension consistently makes up the biggest chunk of questions on CSAT, from 27 to 33 out of 80. Comprehension, all alone is capable of helping a student qualify GS Paper 2. Comprehension is not confusing and subjective and if you are using the right strategies to solve questions then Comprehension is as objective as Mathematics. And because CSAT needs to reflect the required attitude and perception of civil servants so right answers need to reflect these as well. You have to take care that you avoid over understanding the passage as it will make you interpret it according to your own limited competence, biases, prejudices and you will make inferences while being judgmental. Well, we all love to be judgmental and believe that our own interpretations and inferences are always correct. UPSC penalizes you for all this. .
